What is the simplest and safest way to install a new HD as the primary dri/ve with the c: and not destroy the software, i do not have the xp windows disk to reboot

To clarify, you are replacing your current C: drive with a new one and want to transfer your old data and OS over to it without using the XP cd?

If so, I would use Norton Ghost.

You could also use the HD Manu Diskcopy Utilities, ie WDDiag if you have a Western Digital or MaxBlast if you have a Maxtor
