Hard drive louder than normal

I have a seagate hard drive and normally it's really quiet, but now whenever it's reading or writing something to it, it's making very loud(relatively) clicking/reading sounds. It's usually very rapid and goes on for "bursts". I'm backing things up either way, but this seems very strange. DiskCheck gives no errors either. Any ideas?

Depends on the sounds. My seagates get loud especially while moving large files that require a lot of head movement (get your minds out of the gutter).

Backup the stuff and get it RMAed if it's still under warranty. It's going to fail sooner or later...

I googled diskcheck and it only seems to look for bad sectors what you want is a SMART analyzer to check for failing components in the drive.

Smart is usually pretty good and detecting a failing drive. It caught one of my new seagates that failed pretty much right out of the box.
