Been reading here for a long time but never posted. I'm having a very strange hard drive issue right now. I had to reinstall windows to drive C but now drive D is not visible in my computer. It's there in the device manager just not in my computer. I've tried about everything I can do. Uninstalled it. Reinstalled it. Tried new drivers. Had the system auto detect ide drives in the bios. It finds both hard drives when it auto detects just like the device manager. Anyone have any thoughts? It was working before the format but this has nothing to do with that since I didn't format drive D.

First go into "Device Manager" and make sure the hard drive is there (i assume so....i've WinXP pick up a hard drive that i DISABLED in the BIOS...cheeky thing!!!!)

assuming that it is detected in device manager, right click on "My Computer" (Either on the desktop, or in the start menu...doens't matter) and select "Management"...then select "Disk Management" from the 'tree' on the left...

and see if the drive is listed there, and note any comments about it such as "Unallocated" or "Not Initalised"...if it looks good in there, then im not too sure wat else there is...

i assume you are trying to install Windows XP...and not Win98 or something...
