Is there software to make a hard drive image of a new computer? You know when you get a new computer it setup in a certain way and it might ask you questions the first time you boot it, well usually if you reinstall everything at a later time you won?t get that again.

Maybe using something like Ghost an image could be made, only problem though with Ghost is that you needed either installed or a boot up floppy disk and most new computer do not have floppy ports.

Is this possible?

You can use the bootable CDR created by TrueImage by Acronis. That will let you cread an image or even clone the drive.

But I would need an external drive connected since the CD-ROM would be busy with the Bootable CD.
I wouldn't be able to switch between the bootable CD and then blank CD's?

Or does the bootable information get stored in the RAM?

No - once you get the 2.5" drive bootable and have it loaded with the entire XP CD, you then put it back in the laptop as the primary drive. You then fire up and run setup right from that HDD.
