I have 2 hard drives:

Maxtor 250GB SATA with 2 Partitions : 1 20GB for OS, and 1 213GB for DATA

Seagate 200GB UATA100 with 3 partitions : 1 10GB, 1 20GB, 1 150GB

I use the Maxtor mostly, and the Seagate is usually unused (sometimes, even unconnected)

But Windows got corrupted on the Maxtor and I had to install it on the Seagate

I'm trying to make my comp load the OS off of the Seagate and then try to move the files from my DATA partition to the Seagate, as I was doing backups last night but I didn't get to finish :(

Everytime I connect both hard drives, my comp starts loading Windows XP and then restarts all by itself

When I try to reinstall by way of the Windows XP cd, I get the BSOD :(

How can I move my data off my Maxtor to my Seagate?

Ugh, that NTFS DOS is cool, but it's not letting me copy my files from one hard drive to the other

It makes me copy from the drive to the floppy, which is obviously not going to work :(

Option #2
If you have the room, image the Maxtor to the Seagate using Bootit NG
Then use the free file viewing TBIView to view and extract your data.

When running Bootit from the install floppy it makes, click Cancel to the install menu. You will get the Dos based menu. Click Partition Work, then Image, highlight the drive you want to image, click Paste, highlight the drive to paste the image to, then navigate to the folder you want to put the image in.

OMG, I GOT IT BACK!

I figured out that it was the corrupt version of Windows on the Maxtor that was preventing me from booting up every time I plugged that one in.

So something just HIT ME out of nowhere and say, "Hey, use Bootit NG to DELETE that C:\ partition, but keep the D:\ partition (which has all the data on it)"

So I did that, and now it works!

Thanks Woody, for those links!
