Hard drive file transfer problems - why can't I move these files?!?!?!?!

I bought a new hard drive, and I did a clean install of windows XP on it. I took my old hard drive, with all of my data on it, and connected it up to my computer. I wanted to transfer my MP3s, and other files over to the new hard drive. But, whenever I do it, I get an error message that says "The File Cannot be transfered..". I can't even open up the files. Does anyone know why?
