Hard drive file transfer problems - why can't I move these files?!?!?!?!

I bought a new hard drive, and I did a clean install of windows XP on it. I took my old hard drive, with all of my data on it, and connected it up to my computer. I wanted to transfer my MP3s, and other files over to the new hard drive. But, whenever I do it, I get an error message that says "The File Cannot be transfered..". I can't even open up the files. Does anyone know why?

What operating system on old harddrive?
Win XP, ntsf or fat32?
Need more info to be of any help

Both of the drives have XP on them, and NTFS.

Check the permissions on the files.
