ok, in feb i bought a Dell L500r which came with a 7200rpm Maxtor UDMA66 hard drive. now about a month after, it stopped working, and would only click as it spun. the problem has been resolved, they had to replace the hard drive, but does anyone know what the clicking meant? thanx

I just lost a 40gig diamondmax to the maxtor click of death... lost a lot of drives that way... not just maxtor... a bit of everything... not sure what causes that, my 40 gig was 2month old..

A store I went to tells me how amazingly reliable Maxtors are, then I hear this. I'm glad I bought Quantum. Never had a problem, never heard of anybody having problems with them either.

Great 7200rpm drive that, the LM.

Every Maxtor I have ever personally owned or installed in someone else's PC has suffered premature failure. I only use IBM drives now.
