Hard Drive Failure

well, one of my HDs crashed and it really SUCKS!!
The disk wasn't accessible in Windows XP, which showed it as "unformatted".

I downloaded a copy of r-studio (http://www.data-recovery-software.net) and did a disk scan. which was able to find all my files on the partition.
I'm assuming that the MFT was corrupted. Is there a way to restore a MFT and save this drive?

 
I can boot into windows fine, it's a slave drive that's corrupted.
Isn't knoppix just a bootable OS?
