Hard drive error?? HELP!!

It was raining in my area today and I had my computer on, with AIM and Sonique mp3 player running. Suddenly, the power went out and back on in the span of 3 seconds tops. My rig and everything else is hooked up to a surge protector. When I turned my comp back on, everything seemed fine, until I tried to play the tracks of music that had been on before the outage. When I right click on a file and try to "Add to Playlist", the system hangs (once I right click that is). No programs are not responding when I open task manager, however. I've tried defragging, a run of norton (though I don't see the point but it's worth a shot), and scanning my HD for errors. All, to no avail. After some wantering, I've found that other files and folders (usually the first time I right click on them) also cause my system to hang. What can i do??? Is my hard drive zapped? Is it my RAM's problem? And I pray it's not my mobo, I run a P4P800 and frankly, I like it.

S.O.S.

I would:
1) Buy a UPS. My power goes off and comes back on at least twice a month.
2) Run Chksdk in Windows.
3) If Chkdsk doesn't fix your problem, try a repair from the Windows CD.
