Hard Drive Erase Program

I want to erase all the contents of a hard drive to get it ready to sell so I'm looking for a good program to do this. Would you recommend any programs (esp. freeware) that overwrites a hard drive to leave data unrecoverable? Thanks for any ideas.
 
Try to find Norton Utilities 2000 (v4.5) , this has a very good Wipeinfo
program. It allows you to select several patterns to wipe information off your hard drive.
 
Amost all of the harddrive manufactuers have a zero fill utility that you can download. You can also run their diagonstics and print that out showing that there are no problems with the drive before you ship it.
