it's a shame that WD 250 gigs don't ship with ATA Controllers no more. just bought a 250 gig drive and it didn't come with one. When i bought a WD 200 in september, it came with a Controller card.
It's an old PIII mobo, I'm just about to start putting together a new computer so I thought I could start with a HD at first because I can use it in my old system for now since I'm out of memory. But when the new chipsets come out in the spring I'll buy the rest of the components. Actually if I only get 137 Gb out of this HD for now with my old mobo then it would still be fine as long as when I buy my new comp it'll be seen as 250Gb without having to repartition it.
You can partition and format it with the mfr's software which you can DL if it didn't come with the drive regardless of the controller. See the large drive FAQ on the mfr's web site.
