Hard Drive configurations

I am building a new system and, thanks to some recent hot deals, have an 80 GB Drive(8mb cache) and a WD JB 120GB drive to work with. I am going to use both of them - one as my primary drive and the other as a scratch disk for Photoshop as well as for MP3's and backups (possibly Ghost images of my main drive). I'm trying to decide which to use as my boot/application drive and which to use for the rest. Would the WD drive give me much of boost as my main drive? I know it benchmarks as a faster drive - I've read all the relevent reviews at storagereview.com, but am not sure if it equates to real performance increases in everyday use. Here's why I can't decide:

120GB WD as main drive
(+) Perhaps faster boot/program load times

80GB Maxtor as main drive
(+) More flexibility with backups - more likely to fit a full ghost image(s) on the 120GB drive

Partitioning would also provide some other options...

I know there's not one "right" way to do this, but I would be interested in hearing some recommendations since I'm sure many of you have some opinions or experience that could be helpful. Thanks!
