Actual HDD Name:
WDC WD5001AALS-00L3B2
500GB STA Drive (465BG actual)
I ran PCMark05 and I was floored by the results. I have noticed though that XP Bootup and shutdown times have been surprisingly high. Not anywhere I had expected. Access times seem high and raw throughput low...
PCMark rated:
HDD - XP Startup 10.83MB/sec
HDD - General Usage 8.37MB/sec
File Compression: 6.64MB/sec (which actually seems to be on-part per system specs)
File Encryption 34.28MB/sec (same as above)
HDD - Virus Scan 61.43MB/sec
The top two figures have the most concern. There weren't enough comparable systems in ORB to determine a comparison but I know these are low numbers and I've felt that this build doesn't have the punch I thought it would. Keep in mind, I do understand that this build is far from the top-of-the-line HPCs but it shouldn't be no slouch either. I am running HL2 at HD res at 150+ fps (max detail).
Anyhow, please send some replies and let me know what you think. Thanks.
