The typical challenge with RAID 5 is writing, not reading, so read-only benchmarks like HDTach, while interesting, don't give you a good idea of how good your RAID 5 implementation is.

I'd go with an even bigger test file (10x bigger), because some our machines have much more than 1 GiB available RAM, and probably stick with 64K accesses because that's more common AFAIK in the Windows world at least.
