ok i just formatted my hard disk, and it won't boot up off it now. i've done this many times before and did everything the same so i really have no clue to what's happened. it says something like "INVALID SYSTEM DISK, INSERT SYSTEM DISK" or something very very similar to that when i try to boot up, just before it should be saying 'starting MS-DOS' or 'starting win 95' or whatever. i have tried formatted and to FDISK it many times already, nothing's worked. i formatted using the /s switch to copy over the system files so that shouldn't be the problem. and a dir/ash shows the three files, command.com, msdos.sys and io.sys.
the weird thing is that it works fine if it is used as a slave to another drive, that is, i have to boot off a different drive, but once in windows i can copy to it and whatever. it just won't boot up off it.
thanks in advance.
