Hard Disk type 47/80 ?

In device manager in win98se one of my hard drives is listed as type 47 the other as 80 is one better than the other? my old 5400 rpm drive is listed as 80 and my 7200 as 47...

thanks for any info

Both are essentially "User Defined". No difference.

Back when hard drives were a lot smaller, BIOSes used to have numbers corresponding to drive types and sizes. It made it easier to simply select a drive type rather than set all the precomp, landing zones and other strange (now unseen) parameters.
