Hard disk speed

I have a KT7-raid setup with a Maxtor 20 G 7200 RPM ATA100 hard disk
I use Sisoft sandra to test it and when I do hooked up to the ATA100
raid controller I get a score of 17000.
When I hook it up to the ordinary ide-controller (with Dma enabled)
I get the same score !
When I load Deus Ex with the disk hooked up to the raid controller,
It takes about 45 seconds before I see the Eidos logo.
When hooked up to the ide controller (with dma) it takes only 23 seconds !!! Can someone explain this please ?

Well if you are only using one drive that is likely about the sum of it..if you raid 2 drives in stripe then you will see a major boost.. Both setups will only run the same ATA 100 specs with only one drive..

I have a KT7A-Raid mobo with a (single) 30.7 GB Maxtor 7200 HD hooked up to the ATA 100 IDE 3, and just got 18977 on Sandra.

In addition, in Deus Ex, to get to the Edios logo only takes 11 seconds, and I have a slower processor (but more RAM and video)...just my $0.02...I would think you should be a little quicker...double check all your BIOS settings...if you need help, LMK.

I would first try upgrading to the latest Via drivers (4.28 something I believe). See if the new busmastering IDE driver stuff works.

Edit: Oops. Also, try making sure that the swap file/virtual memory thing is set to a static value (like minimum of 256MB and maximum of 256MB)

Hope this helps.
