Every couple of weeks, I'll go to Rotten Tomatoes and look for new movies that are about to be relaesed on DVD that have a decent rating. Movies with good ratings get added to the Netflix queue. I didn't bother to read about this movie, so I didn't have a clue what it was about before I started watching it. The fact that I didn't know what the movie was about made it much better. It's a suspense/drama type moive, so it really helps if you don't know the plot of the movie.

The movie was... different. After I watched it, I got my girlfriend to watch it, and she liked it too. She then passed it on to another girl she works with who also liked it.

Please don't post spoilers if you have seen this movie. If you haven't seen it, then rent it without reading anything about it.

I haven't seen it, but I'm picturing a blaxploitation flick with a trash-talking afro chick named Candy as a police woman.

I agree. Based on your post I just added it to my queue, and since I agree with the "knowing less = better" philosophy I'm not going to read the rest of the thread until I watch it.

the thing that concerned me is that she was really ~15 when she did the film, and she was looking at his 'piece' up close and personal (his underwear was off). Plus it really did look like she was handling his 'piece.'

then again, dakoda north is doing a movie where she's graphically raped. (she's ~10 in real life.)

My fiancee and I really liked the movie. Too bad Sandra Oh had a worthless part.

Just saw this movie. Very intense indeed. Just one question....

*********** SPOILER **************

From wikipedia:
She pretends to castrate him, with much detail, while he watches the operation "live" on a TV near him. The operation is really a tape, and the blood and testicles she removes (and grinds down the garbage disposal) are fake.
Was it fake? I didn't notice anything in the movie to indicate it was fake.

He took off the metal clip that was attached to his balls(to simulate the wound being closed) and they show him at the end taking the video out of the VCR.

I think he was numb so thats why he didn't know if it was real or fake.

..no doubt. Ellen Page is frightening. Suspension of disbelief from someone so young.

I thought it was awful. The girl's acting was sooooooo bad that I couldn't get past it.

worst movie I've seen in years
The entire movie was like a paid advertisement by "Mothers Against Pedophiles." At times the girl just stares at the camera and lists off all the reasons people shouldn't be pedophiles.
Especially when she spews out crap like, "I am every girl that has ever been preyed on by a pedophile"

**SPOILER**

Then when the guy kills himself at the end, I just stared at the screen in shock because I had no fvcking clue as to why that just happened. Walking out of the theater, I had absolutely nothing to say because I still couldn't get over the shock of the guy killing himself. Even to this day, whenever I think about it, I realize what an unneccesarilly dumb ending that was.
