I buy things from HT that I use really infrequently. If it were something that would see a fair amount of use, or infrequent heavy use I wouldn't do it.

how are their sawzalls? Home Depot ones are $100 but HF are < $50??? The amps are different - is that basically power? Will need to occasionally cut thin metal and typical wood.

I've used my sawzall quite a bit and haven't had any issues with it. My neighbor had to chop up a fallen tree and didn't have a saw so I loaned it to him and he cut the whole thing up with no problems.

I got a tool cart for my birthday last year. It's a beast, very solidly built and routinely had for less than $175. Can't touch anything similar for under $300 at the other stores.

But I wouldn't trust everything they sell, it's very hit or miss.

One thing I find disappointing though is that back when I first learned to use a chainsaw (Doom I) I learned to attack with the tip. According to the HF manual, this can cause nasty kickback and is bad for the saw and the user. I think iD Software should have warned players of this safety issue.

their cordless tool batteries last about as long as the 50 for $1 AA batteries they sell in those big bins.

i always walk in there looking for something and walk out with an odd gadget/tool and cheapo LED flashlights.

I'm sure that's only an issue for rigid targets. Safer to get them from slightly farther away to stay out of reach.
