I'm probably a little late to the party, but a few words here about win 7.

I have been using xp since it came out, and just a couple days ago I installed win 7 pro (32bit due to me only having 2gb mem). Only needed a few drivers/updates to get everything working. So far very happy with performance, seems win7 has better multitasking, like loading one program won't slow other program to a crawl. Aero preview taskbar is nice too. Awesome visuals too and "library" with favorites folder.

Few issues I had: had to add "everyone" user to be able share a folder on network.
Also realtek driver issue where I had to plugin different slot.

Luckily I'm a CS student and got a free legit copy through MS academic alliance 😀

Windows 7 is awesome. I have been using it since the beta and I think it is by far the best OS ever made. Have you tried using the Snap feature yet? I find it is great for productivity if you only have one monitor.

just re-installed with the free windows 7 i got at the MS conference. i got the 32 bit dvd. but i installed the 64 bit from another source. the key works for both versions.

runs like a champ... i did have to find a driver for the network adapter... good thing i have a laptop...

my main computer is a macbook but i have windows 7 on my desktop/file server and i couldnt be happier with it. snow leopard = to windows 7.

Windows seven is born to beat all OS....
Amazing work by MS...

I don't see what all the fuss is about to be honest,I have all my Operating Systems running great includung Vista x86 ,Vista x64 /Win7 x86,Win7x64 and good old Ubuntu 9.10(Windows could learn a thing or two from Linux).

I will say they are all excellent Operating Systems in there own right,I look forward to Windows 8 and Ubuntu 10.04 🙂.

Only one monitor is not that great for productivity however, I'd rather 2 monitors, right clicking the task bar and saying Tile Windows Virtically (or Horizontally) was always there, now with the advent of snap they took that out thinking no one would ever use it again. Minor oversight on MS part.

The fuss is that its MS, they are notorious for craptastic operating systems that take a decade to be stable. Win 7 is refreshing.

Yeah, Aero snap(left|right) is a bit pointless with multi-monitor systems.

Snap is my probably favorite feature in Win 7.

Maybe to you but I find each OS they release not an issue and far from crapstatic, you can argue they can learn a thing or two from Linux and I will agree with that ,however each new OS they release brings some new ideas/inventions and they are always trying to improve in some area.

Unfortunately they cannot please everybody, this is a fact and also unrealistic goal for obvious reasons.
