Hi everybody,

just bought a new processor (and RAM) and got to 3.5GHz very easily.

The system is memtested, about half an hour Primed (while doing antivirus at the same time...).

No crashes, all default voltages (the mobo is undervolting!). To be honest, I haven't tried to get the maximum out of the system.

Here my results and more info about the system: MadTom's results

Thats pretty standard overclock for a D1. I had a D1 and would perform similarly. I could hit 250FSB @ stock voltages. I upgraded to an M0 to get past 250 though.....right now running @ 257FSB (3.6ghz) @ 1.6v. It will run 260FSB+ but I don't like uping the voltage past that.

Well, I haven't tried to see the maximum of the chip, but was pretty amazed that it worked so good out of the box...

i don't think it's standard or else i'd be up at 3.5 ha ha. my D1 SL6WT can only hit 3.3 stable with 1.675v.

I'd like to get my hands on the new D0 stepping of the Prescott. They are suppose to OC alot higher and run cooler than the current stepping.

Wow it's showing 1.424 volts in CPU-z. I would say 3.5 ghz is a great overclock considering how much your board is undervolting.

I say push the vcore until you're getting 1.525v actual (default for Northies) and see how far it'll go. :)

Yes....do that. You might have the best D1 chip ever made. YDDaniel, I'm sorry you've got some bad luck. I haven't heard anyone getting less than 3.4 @ near stock voltage. My max. FSB on stock voltage when I pulled it out of the box was 243 (3.37ghz). So I left it at that speed for a few weeks, tried to OC it again, pushed it to 250FSB, and it ran stable (12h P95). I don't know what caused it to run stable @ the higher speed, but I was happy nonetheless.

How do you have your ddr voltage @ 3.3? Volt mod? I think the highest IC7 goes up to is 2.9.

Yeah I bought my board volt-modded from a friend. :)

Edit: I just noticed it said IC7-G in my profile...haven't had that board in a while...oops!

Yeah, seeing results from other people I was really amazed to see that mine worked so well with default voltage. BTW, the voltage was fluctuating from 1.424 to 1.475 (let's say that's an 0.05 undervolt).

Since I'm at work at the moment, I will try to squeeze the processor out in the afternoon (with voltage set to 1.575, what should be 1.525 actual); so expect new results tomorrow at this time.;)

My new 2.8C (D1 stepping) also is doing 3.5GHz at default voltage stable. I have not tried higher yet either.

Well, the dream is over.

Highest what I got stable with 1.525V actual (1.575V in BIOS) is 3.7GHz at a 264FSB.

Just for testing purposes I haven't tried the max of the RAM, so I did it with a 5:4 FSB:RAM setting. However I have updated the results on MadTom's 2.8 SL6WT overclocking page.

Sorry if you don't like the design, it's one of my first web pages...

However, I'm working at 3.5GHz, but in overall I give my setup a

Forgot to mention that the system was totally stable at the above speed (Prime for a few hours, memtest, 3DMarks...).

And, obviously the 2.8 D1 I got is better than some M0's (like

jhurst's):

That is a pretty impressive chip. Better than mine thats for sure. But I will say that my M0 is better than my previous D1. D1's might be pretty big hit-or-miss chips.....some ppl can't get past 3.3ghz with them.

No offense, man. I'm just to happy with my little 2.8.

BTW, does anyone need a Gigabyte 8IGX (i845G), 1.6A @ 2.14 (stock voltage) and 512MB Samsung DDR333 @ DDR354 (2-3-2-5) combo?

Do you think I might have hit the FSB limit of the mobo? (I bought it used and the northbridge fan was replaced with a (big) cooler without a fan).
