I have $1300 invested after upgrades...

GeForce 5200 256mb graphix (can't get the 8x's promised, but good performance)
55G HD ( I don't library music/video )
liteOn cdrw
liteOn dvd/cdrw
windows xp (home)
alternate conx dsl/cable bb "deals"

I had a Dell Dim8250 (same cpu 533fsb rdram 850 chipset) and loved it. STABLE is 1st thing that comes to mind. My new AMD system is quite beyond my old Dell and now I realize that building your own is the only I will go into the future. I just hated all the software Dell's come preloaded with. Stable, quiet pc it was though.

My current project computer is taking a Dim 2400 that was gutted of its main components with the exception of the case/motherboard/PSU and doing a custom build with it. My plan is to outfit it with the following:
2.6GHz
512MB-1GB
Radeon 9700 Pro
120GB HD
DVD+-RW

Looks nice tech. Go with 1 gig of RAM if your a gamer. I love my 9700pro, but if you do game and have the $$ think about a 6600gt for $190 @ Newegg. Will take your gaming to next level ;)

I'm giving it my fiance whose going to play Sims 2 on it. I'm not a gamer (unless you count solitare or freecell) so my Ti4200 works just fine for me.
