Coincidentally, I just finished reading the book of Esther in the Bible. It is the story of how Purim started, and it is a fabulously entertaining (& hilarious) read. I highly recommend it to anyone who has 10-15 minutes to read a few short pages. (Don't worry, atheists - there isn't a single mention of God in the book of Esther; it's more of a historical narrative. You won't become a Christian or Jew by reading it)

10-15 minutes, wow. When they read it at the synagogue (in Hebrew) it takes at least 40 minutes.

I'm a fast reader. Seriously - best ancient story that most people don't know - ever!!!

It's a good week to be an alcoholic! St Patty's Day, this Jewish Holiday, and Persian New Year same day as Purim. Speaking of the last 2, would seem to be a good opportunity for a couple of Ethnic groups to mend fences/get to know each other. Don't have to, just sayin. ;)
