Today, March 14th is the official Pi celebration day! Remember to eat a pie at 1:59!

See who can figure it out first 😉

it's 22/7 ?

Ummm... Pie... 🙂🙂🙂

Let's see... 3/14 1:59 and 27 seconds should be your first bite, no?

I think the current record for memorization of Pi is 46,000 digits. Some chinese or japanese guy set it a while back.

wow, i was proud of myself when i knew all the presidents and this terms cabinet.

Some people use 22/7 as an approximation to pi. The government uses 3 for simplicity! 🙂 Ever hear the expression "close enough for government work"? 🙂

Cheers!

Pi != 22/7

are you sure...? im probably wrong, i havent taken a math class for a while now 😛

22/7 is about 3.142857142...
Pi is about 3.1415926535...

22/7 holds up for a few decimal places. However, remember that Pi is an irrational number. That means Pi can't equal a fraction. 22/7 is basically the same as using 3.14 for Pi, but it's just in fraction form.

What is the formula for calclating pi anyway?

Might as well stick with 3.14 than use 22/7 since 22/7 gives worthless result beyond the third digit.

we are only dorks when we start talking a bout cool e (the math constant not the drug) is or how useful imaginary numbers are.

<< Viper... calcuatling PI to 32MB nearly crashed my computer!:Q >>

I don't remember if I've ever done 32M, maybe I'll try it when I get home. Shouldn't hurt my system too much, even if it pegs one of my processors at 100% I'll still have the other free.

Show off! 😛
Happy Pie day!!! 😀

I calculated the 32 million digits on my old p3 866 with 128 MB sdram. It took over an hour and the comp was useless until it finished. I just turned off the monitor and let it go.

<< well.. its offical, we're all dorks. >>

i think we have known this for some time now.

<< 3/14=3.14 is approximate circuference formula for circle. >>

what?
3/14=0.2142857142857142857142857142857...

I really should read more carefully, I was about to tell you you were full of it. Then I saw the 128 MB SDRAM, & read a little more closely. Then I realized you weren't talking about a 386, but a P3 866.
