I'm watching the Today Show right now, they're showing some WWII Vets going to the memorial in D.C. It really must be amazing to see this thing that reminds you and takes you back to something that happened 6 decades ago, when you were so young. It was also nice to see these people old and near the end of their lives being honored by these people in the service NOW.

Happy Memorial Day all!

I used to be like "whatever, war is lame fuck memorial day" then I got a job as a reporter and started meeting soldiers, sailors and Marines and their families and now I realize that they're some of the most humble and respectable citizens of this country. I now feel swells of pride when it's time to pay tribute to our servicemen and women.

COL Robert F. Maguire (WWII)
TSgt Robert Hargreaves (WWII)
CPL Pannarath Tralong (March 2009)

You are not forgotten.
