I don't think Jews are a race, how could the Jews from Asia, Africa, Europe, etc all be somehow connected genetically, I doubt it.

Used to be - now, especially in the USA, not so much.

It makes more sense to say you are a Hungarian Jew, or Austrian Jew, etc.

Just saying Jewish probably means your ignorant of your true ethnicity or simply deny it.

No, I think they are a race too. I don't know, maybe the jewish people should figure this shit out and make a website about it.

I still don't understand why Hitler killed the jews then. Did he just do it because they were of that religion or because of the race? I thought it was a mix of both... Trying to "purify" the race.

"Jewish" was never a race. It still has some minor basis in fact as an ethnicity, since most Jews do have some very distant ancestry from Israel, but I think that genetic evidence has shown that it's quite minor for most, at least amongst European Jewish populations. For example, if most German Jews (Ashkenazi Jews) are like 98% genetically indistinguishable from other Germans, does that really make them Jewish? You can argue about whether it really does. Many self-proclaimed Jews seem to think so. I personally just think of it as a sort of religious/cultural identity.

Happy Hanukkah!!!

I'm half Jewish but I still celebrate. Have a good one guys.

Do you celebrate Chirstmas too?

Yea I do. My birthday is on the 18th of Dec and with Hannukah and Xmas so close together, I get Hannukah, Bday, and Xmas gifts mushed together.

I wonder if I can convert to quarter-jew

I dont remember who I talked to about this, but one time I brought up the point that alot of hate groups always include jews. I was under the impression it was a religion and nothing more, and I could of sworn I got an answer of some sort that its a race, of course I could be wrong.

Typically "race" is a very broad categorization like White, Black, and Asian. These are primarily phenotypic categories though; the actual population genetics are more complex than that. That's why I said that Jewish is an ethnicity at best. Usually, European/American hate groups specifically refer to German (Ashkenazi) Jews, so in that sense it can be an ethnicity and culture too.

I guess the point that I'm trying to make is that being Jewish has more to do with identity than anything else. It's more than just a religion, since there are many Jewish atheists/agnostics. It's also more than just an ethnicity, since there's a great deal of genetic variation between Jews and also since people that have no ancestry to the ancient Hebrew peoples can convert to the religion.
