Interesting about the orbs. That's a very common occurrence. And you're not the only one that has seen or experienced paranormal stuff at Civil War battlefields.
Personally, I've never seen anything, but I heard something that I couldn't explain. It was a few days after my aunt died and I heard this loud banging everywhere in the house. I mean it was this sound that seemed like it came from everywhere. I thought it was some kids bouncing a ball off our roof. So I went outside and no one was around. I have no idea what it could have been. It was about 6 bangs and I said really loud, "I know you're there!" And then it stopped. Since I've always belived in this stuff that was just my response. I'd like to think it was my aunt trying to tell me something like I'm still here.
My mom experienced a paranormal type thing too. Well, my dad too I guess, but he's pretty cynical about such things. My grandma had cancer and was in hospice at our house where she died. Well, my mom was out in the garage having a cigarette and all of a sudden she heard this loud sound rush over her and my dad's head like I guess an angel sound as best she describes it. She knew she should go upstairs and check on my grandma. When she entered the room my grandma was taking her last breath. My mom likes to think angels took my grandma to heaven.
My mom also experienced a strange odor. She was washing the dishes and smelled a very powerful scent of flowers. It was a few days latter my grandpa had died and when she went to his funeral the same scent of flowers were there at the funeral home.
There's a lot to this universe we don't know about.
