Enjoy going off on that tangent solo! 😉

*(also .... if a "holiday" results in paid time off, it's MORE than "real" enough for me!)
I'm not sure I've ever gotten paid time off for Easter, hence the designation as "fake holiday" 😛
"Real holidays" are stuff like Thanksgiving, Christmas, 4th of July... ones that the vast bulk of Americans get a day off for. Stuff that only government workers and bankers get don't count.

Good Friday is a statutory holiday here which means you usually get paid time and a half if working or statutory pay if not working that day.

That doesn't explain why Easter Monday is a thing instead of just Easter Sunday

I think y'all are just milking it.

for us Canuckistans:

Canada

Easter Monday (French: Le Lundi de Pâques) is the Monday immediately following Easter Sunday and is a statutory holiday for federal employees. Although not mandatory by federal regulation, some employers also give this day off to employees out of common practice. Additionally, this holiday succeeds Good Friday (the Friday preceding Easter), which is a mandatory holiday for all employees, giving those workers an extra long weekend in March or April. An exception to this rule is in Quebec, where employers must give either Good Friday or Easter Monday off to employees. In provinces where Family Day, Islander Day, or Louis Riel Day are not observed, Easter Weekend is the first provincial holiday after New Year's Day.

Easter Monday celebrates the memory of the Easter Rising. This was the Irish equivalent of the American battles of Lexington and Concord, kicking off the ultimately successful war to throw the British out of most of Ireland.

I love easter. It causes all the stores here to run wonderful sales on wine causing me to load up for the year. Great times by had by all.

Happy Easter! Working this weekend, so going to get some sweet stat pay. I'm on night shift so still be able to make it to Easter dinner.

It feels more like Christmas given the weather though! Just throw the eggs in the snow and tell the kids good luck!

My company pays holiday pay ( double) for every single holiday or a paid day off for the suits and office workers. You will get paid for that day if you aren't scheduled to work that day.

Except Easter.

Just came back from Easter dinner. Was great. I always hate when I have to leave so early for work though, but getting the big bucks so it's worth it in the end. 😛

Peak bloom in the city's parks, including cherry trees. Going to ride the bike to a few with the camera and play with f stops. Stop for some Uighur Chinese food when I get in, ramen on the way out. Hoping it's less crowded due to a bunch of people celebrating Easter.

Is that different than the normal egg? I liked those when they first came out cause of the novelty, but they're sugar bombs without a lot of flavor.
