Happy Diwali

I don't have any Hindu friends, nor am I knowledgeable about the religion and customs...but if I bring beer, can I party with you?🙂

Yes, I read the educational link. Apparently, in order to properly celebrate Diwali, I must festoon my apartment and myself with lots of gold and silver trinkets, appropriate, period-specific clothing and burn lots of little candles to blind the eyes of the death spirit. Oh, I need a wife too, so I can complete the re-enactment...can I borrow a wife? I've got the beer.

Happy Diwali to all of you. Are most of you celebrating it today (24th) or tomorrow? It always seems to be up for debate which day to celebrate it, to coincide with the celebration in India, I guess, or to moreso adhere to a specific date.

Happy Diwali?

What are you guys doing to celebrate? THere's a party at a friend's house where I live, for the families, there will be fireworks, friends, b-ball, etc. Oh yeah, food!

I thought it was spelled with a V... We write "divali" in trinidad.

Oh yea? I know south indians call it Deepavali.

Everyone has a different name for it.

Ameesh: What's EMP? Your at MS right? DO you goto garbha and all those things with the other indian MS employees?

<my dad was on contract there a few years back so I met a few of his co-workers and checked out the MS campus...very cool campus...I love their musueam with the rolling piracy counter>

Yeah, if you mean the spelling, Hindi spelling using English characters is odd at first, but then it kind of begins to seem right later on.

EMP - Electro Magnetic Pulse 😛 Seriously, I have no clue
