While we have to pay $$$ for DVD Player software, I just found one in my Tarzan DVD. It's running OK on my PC, and I cannot find obvious diff between WinDVD and this unknown player.

Since Tarzan is not a new movie, I think it can be get cheap, at least cheaper than those Soft DVD Players.

To those who only use DVD player to play DVDs, Tarzan also has a little Tarzan game in that DVD. Glad I got a DVD rom, otherwise I would never find those features.

Are you talking about PCFriendly? I maybe wrong but I think it just provides you a user interface for some additional features, it uses whatever your DVD engine installed. It comes with every DVD from FOX, MGM, Universal(?) and maybe some other companies.

And in case you don't know, Windows 2000 comes with a basic DVD player(DVDPlay?), you have to start it from start/run command line though.

And if it uses the WinDVD engine you installed previously, of course there is no difference in playing back other than new interface.

Faint:eek: I just started using my PC to play DVDs couple days ago, and thought I discovered a big feature.

The one comes with W2K doesn't want to play for me because it can't verify if I'll try to copy the DVD or not. What a typical MS bs!

MOST DVD movies come with some generic form of a DVD player on them, mostly for advertising and spam purposes. PCFriendly is the most common culprit, and by far the WORST software you can use to watch movies. It only plays about 60% of DVDs.
