Quebec... the silent French-speaking population of North America.
When? I do like Montreal! My conversational French has become extremely limited, going east from Quebec City, I wind up pointing to menu items to order dinner 🙁

Edit: Happy Canada Day!

French is my primary language, but I find I'm kinda losing it at least as far as writing goes. I rarely have to write in French so when I do, I'm a little rusty and definitely need to rely on the spell checker. Ontario French is also a little bit more rough around the edges compared to Quebec so if I go there they know I'm a dreaded Ontarian. 😛

At least you weren't the 'dreaded American'. In France, I got some disapproving looks for speaking Canadian influenced French with a damn Yankee accent 🙄. The Canadians are much Friendlier 🙂.

Poor word choice on my part.
Perhaps obscure is the better descriptor. Aside from Northeasterners who are in proximity to Montreal, Americans are unlikely to realize French is spoken on the North American continent. That was what I was trying to imply.

I've learned quite a bit as a Montreal fan, and how I became one is anything but ordinary. In short, them beating the team I originally held allegiance to pulled me over to the bleu, blanc, rouge. Now, I hate the Capitals.

Ah, so you're Claude Giroux's 8th cousin twice removed or something. I knew we had a celebrity link somewhere on these boards. They'll take you in anyway. lol.

Well, I live in New Hampshire, so that explains that. Probably have been to Quebec (mostly) and Ontario at least a dozen times as an adult.

Enjoy your extra digital sales tax Canada they just released on the 1st.
Doesn't go into effect til January 2022 no? Aimed at internet giants but they'll just pass the buck no doubt.

.

Or are you talking about GST/HST? That should have been collected from the very beginning.

That's new to me but not surprised, they keep trying to add new taxes on all sorts of random stuff. I heard they want to tax online streaming too. So ridiculous. We already pay enough taxes as is, they need to learn to budget better, like like we're forced to do every time the costs of living go up. They probably want to try to punish people for cancelling cable.

Steam started charging me 13% more, well at least if you live in Ontario. It was good while it lasted. RIP.

Online Businesses should not have a Tax advantage over Physical Stores. Shopping Online no longer needs the advantage to establish itself. This levels the playing field.
