Hi, I'm not currently one of the faster SETI'ers but I started crunching SETI a little while back... And I just turned 100! Yay for me 😀

Also.. my motherboard just got here, and my P4 box is going 2gether 2nite! Another cruncher for the fold.
I'm currently working on improving the cooling (quieter/better) in my AMD box so I can leave it on 24/7 (or at least 8/7) 😉 so I can tip the scales and we can surpass dslreports!!!! 🙂

EDIT: I mean Broadband Reports Team Starfire. My bad.
 
Cool, tell us about your new P4 rig! 😎 Yeah, I should try to quiet my AthlonXP down, too... I would feel a little silly buying an Alpha PAL8045 and fan for $45 just to cool a $55 CPU, but maybe I'll talk myself into it on the basis of being able to use it for a Barton 3000+ next year, or something... yeah, that's the ticket... 😉

My current rig is donating its GF3Ti200 to the cause ;-) until I recover enuff to purchase of an additional card..
PAL8045... is that the 80MM one? I heard of someone running the Papst fan on there to make it really quiet... I would be interested in hearing someone's experience on how that works.

In case anyone misunderstands, it's not my REAL b'day... just my SETI b'day...

That P4 should light a fire under your stats really nicely! 😀 Yes indeed, the PAL8045 is the one that takes 80mm fans, and I have one already on my other system (it doesn't fit all boards, gotta check here to make sure). They also make the 8942, which is the similar item for Pentium4's. Alpha's main rivals are the expensive-er Swiftech units.

There is a really versatile 80mm fan made by YS Tech which can be manually dialed for anywhere from 10cfm to 48cfm, with a corresponding noise level from "very very quiet" to "medium-loud-but-not-insane." Hard to pass that up for versatility! www.2cooltek.com has the Alphas and the fans, if you're feeling like splurging 😀

The new rig is up and running, looks like it'll finish its first WU in 2.5 hours! Twice as fast as my previous primary box. Hopefully it'll soon be oc'ed and on all the time!!! 😀
