Happiness vs. Healthiness

lol that would be one very nice burger.

However, "healthy" food tastes just as good as the unhealthy stuff. I am much happier and feel a ton better when I eat healthy.

I'd agree with you if ribeye steaks and pizza were healthy...

Though I do tend to be happier when I'm eating healthy.

They are. Too many people who don't care about food anyway, buy into the popular media crap that says, carbs/sugar/potatos ad nauseum are the great evil. Portions and variety are the key. I deal with 'meat and potatos' sorts every day who believe this shit so, "just give me meat and leave out the potatos." It's pretty fucking sad when you have to tell full bird Colonels, "vegetables are not the enemy!"

No single food item or isolated meal should be considered unhealthy outside of the context of one's total diet.

I just had a nice 1.4 lbs ribeye steak this past week. I'm pretty sure it was healthy and I'm pretty healthy.

Quick google puts that around 1400 calories and 70-80ish g's of fat, 30ish sat. fat and a ton of cholesterol- I get what you guys are saying that it can be part of a healthy diet etc etc, but come on- that's not exactly healthy. And I wouldn't consider pizza very healthy either.

My comment didn't mean to imply that a healthy diet can't include cheat days or some less healthy foods- just that "healthy" foods in general don't quite compare. On the other hand, I have no problem passing up chips, desserts and soda.

What I've found over the pat 15yrs of training and competing, is that most people aren't willing to be strict enough on what they eat to lose weight in conjunction with doing the weights and cardio. They just don't want it enough.

The people that do want it enough lose weight and stay in good shape. I have never met a determined person never lose weight or get to where they want to eventually. Some of course have it much easier than others.

Maybe not at first, but once you get used to it then it certainly does taste just as good, if not better!

I've been eating healthy for a few years now. I continuously but gradually introduce healthy substitutions to my diet. I feel better, have more energy and less chest pain, the benefits are well worth the "sacrifices" that I made.
