Although I have been used in the past, this was not one of those instances. I didn't wine and dine her while in Germany (maybe that was bad). We just got together and spent 3 days together, visited her family, met her parents, etc. I mean, she has said herself, that if 6000 miles didn't separate us, there's a good chance we'd be together. You never know what the future will bring.

Here are some more thoughts on happiness:

Solving a complex problem in Calc.
Completeing a CS program and having it compile correctly.
Drinking too much in the company of friends.
Giving time and money to those who really need it.
Etc, etc, etc

...standing at the Cliffs of Moher in Ireland 700ft up from the ocean below.

...standing in line behind two people at a local 'chippy' in a small town in England, having just come from the Squash Club (members only bar/dance club, unless you have a USA passport :D). Then eating a cheeseburger and chips (fries) out on the sidewalk with two great friends laughing and talking with locals.

Man, I do the EXACT same thing several times a week. I rush through my morning shower so I can be the first in the baby's room to get our son up. I love it when he stands up, rattles the crib, and yells DA DA!!

Only thing different is my son is 16 months old.

Hey Joe (slag)

You are SOOOOOOO right. Nothing has changed my life more or affected me as much as looking into my son's wide eyes while he exclaims "DA-DA!" The only feeling that compares is suggling up to my wife in the middle of the night knowing how much we both love each other even after 7 years of (wonderful) marriage.

I didn't know what to expect when I became a father in April of 2001............now I can't imagine life without my baby boy.
