Happauge PVR.....

I'm thinking about getting rid of my Dish Net. DVR and setting up recording with this Happauge Nexus. Anyone own this or similar? I'm planning on coupling the card and Snapstrem and a lot of reviews say the recording/playback is as good/better than that of my current Dish DVR, just as easy and FREE! Need some feedback from people already doing this about potential problems, or, how good it is!🙂

Nobody in here uses a system as a PVR? LOL! I just want to see how well it works from a users perspective that's not already on a forum dedicated to that. (biased)

Hauppage make alright hardware, but ****** software. I have a Nova-T PCI card and it's an utter nightmare to get working, the software is badly designed and flakey.

But you can use 3rd party freeware players etc that make it bearable.

That card won't work with Dish Network or DirecTV.

It won't pick it up directly, but from what I gather on Snapstream forum, it is able to record when connected to the TV.......Recording Dish Network to PC via Hauppauge Tuner....

What you just linked to used a Hauppauge PVR-150, not the Nexus-S that you used in the first post. They're very different animals.

What you want to be looking at is either the Hauppauge PVR-150 or one of the ATi Theater 550 pro based captures cards. Then yes, it is perfectly possible to connect the satellite receiver to the card, and using Beyond TV have complete control over your tv via IR blaster to control the satellite receiver.

For a quick walkthrough, go to: http://www.snapstream.com/support/beyondtv/helpfile/index.html

Then "Setup and Install Beyond TV" and finally "Satellite or digital cable"

That will give you a little better idea what you'll be doing.
