The OCA -- a group "dedicated to advancing the social, political and economic well-being of Asian Pacific Americans" -- is fuming at this photo of Miley and pals for using what they have deemed an offensive, stereotypical gesture.

The OCA sent us this statement: "The photograph of Miley Cyrus and other individuals slanting their eyes currently circulating the Internet is offensive to the Asian Pacific American community and sets a terrible example for her many young fans. This image falls within a long and unfortunate history of people mocking and denigrating individuals of Asian descent...

...Not only has Miley Cyrus and the other individuals in the photograph encouraged and legitimized the taunting and mocking of people of Asian descent, she has also insulted her many Asian Pacific American fans," said George Wu, executive director of OCA. "The inclusion of an Asian Pacific American individual in the photo does not make it acceptable."

"OCA hopes that Miley Cyrus will apologize to her fans and the APA community for this lapse in judgment and takes the opportunity to better understand why the gesture is offensive."

Personally, I don't care but wanted to see how many people here are offended by this.

There's a reason why stuff like this for Asians don't get too much coverage, partly because we don't really care and partly b/c the majority of the media doesn't care. Don't think it's racist or offensive at all.

I have mixed feelings... I don't particularly care(Asian myself), it doesn't offend me. On the flip side, I feel that I should because Asians are just too passive and don't stick up for themselves in America. The tinest thing will spark a huge backlash from everyone with complete media coverage when a black person is involved and now they have a sitting president in office among other notables. Who do we have? I could probably count them with the fingers on my 2 hands and they are either kung-fu stars or a center for the Rockets all of whom were imported.

Just face reality. Asians will never get as much sympathy as other minorities, be it deserving or undeserving.

Apparently some of you do. 😛

Her fans will just think she's making funny faces and giggle with their pink ipods. And asians generally don't care about this stuff. Actually, all of the most racist people I know are asian - but that's for another thread.
