I was in BestBuy and saw the Hannspree 28" LCD monitor for $479 at the BestBuy at 86th st in NYC. I don't know if this deal is everywhere, probably not. The item said like $599, clearance $479.

To my knowledge the Hannspree = HannsG.

This TFT monitor is pretty good for the money if you are sitting in front of it. I intend on using it for the dual purpose of being a bedroom TV too for which it will not be good for, may try an angled mount. The vertical view angle is terrible. Horizontal is not bad at all. Siting in front of it is not bad either. It is pretty impressive when you sit in front of it. Under $500 is a good deal as it's generally about $550-600.

27.5" viewable
1920x1200 HD
.308 dot pitch
3 year warranty

Try this thread about the coupon. big YMMV

I have the Hanns-G HG281D 28" LCD and I'm very happy with it. Sure, the vertical range of viewing angles is quite limited and its colors aren't true to life but it's still one hell of a monitor and you can't beat the price. You can google reviews that will give you a more thorough breakdown of its strengths and weaknesses but I remember they left out one nice feature, it has a VESA mount (great for wall mounting) and the included stand has very smooth motion, it doesn't have height adjustment but it's still one of the better stands I've had included with a monitor.

As far as price goes, I want to say I got mine for $450 shipped from newegg.

All in all, I'm quite happy with it.

I have never seen this for sale at newegg, the HannsG version, which is essentially the same. It's always at $550 too 🙁

if you go through pricewatch.com you can get the hanns from newgg for $500 and free shipping...

however, i have it and dont love it.

i got this monitor and a Peerless tilting wall mount to mount it to my wall. i love it. the move from a 19" 5:4 to this was phenomenal.

edit: it should be mentioned that if your eyes are not at a level perpindicular to about 3/4 the way up the screen, you're going to need some method to tilt the screen. otherwise, you're going to end up with a dark patch at the top of the screen. the vertical viewing angle (looking up) is terrible.

I got one from Costco for the return policy incase I didnt end up liking it. I ended loving it and keeping mine.
