Plumber: Er, yes, but welfare was to be used, not abused.

Colmes: Well you benefited from other people giving you money didn't you? And what about roads and bridges and education and wars? Who's going to pay for all that?

Plumber: I'm not against paying taxes. I'm against paying exorbitant taxes.

Colmes: Under Obama's plan you'll get more of a tax break than if McCain had been elected. Surely you approve of that.

Plumber: Paying taxes is against my principles.

Isn't it about time this dumbass and all who would keep him in the spotlight go away forever?

Probably, but honestly he seems to be pretty representative of many "conservatives" in this country. They aren't against things taxes pay for, they're just against taxes...and specifically the taxes that apply to them.

"Statistically, conservatives donate more money and time to charities than liberals"

And how exactly was this 'statistic' measured?

Let me guess - if you take away dontations from Bill Gates, all of the Hollywood elite, and Paul Newman, then, statistically, this statement has some chance of being slightly accurate.

The fact that any of us even know who JTP is should be all you need to know about how well the GOP campaign was run over the past 2 months.

How about this one then?

Unless you disagree that the majority of firearms owners are conservatives.

Fair enough. I haven't taken the time to dissect the other study, so I shouldn't have relied upon it.

In any case, it's as valid as yowolabi's un-cited opinion that conservatives are against others benefiting from their money.

 All I see are numbers and not how they came up with that.

OK well in 2007 people that were registered as Dems were more likely to give money to charity than Rep's (83% to 75%).

So there ya go. My line is backed up as much as the one you linked to. Just saying its so does not make it so. That and then on top of that you try and assume that gun owners are conserative while non-gun owners are not. yet again you back that up with nothing. I owned a gun but am not a republican/conserative.

You know, they say that 50% of all statistics are made up.

BTW-I'm curious how this poll was conducted, where it was conducted, how big the group polled was. This is just an article in the WSJ drawing its own conclusions from a book someone else published.

You know, you can look up the book that was cited in the article and find out the methodology. The article lists a book, and a person involved with the group that conducted the survey. The information you're looking for exists.

Your glib little made-up statistic doesn't work as an analogy since you aren't referencing a specific survey and there is no-one you can reference for it. You're just being willfully obtuse. If you want to know the methodology used in the survey I cited, pick up a copy of "Gross National Happiness" at your local library and look it up.

In general, gun owners tend to be conservative, but see my reply to TallBill where I acknowledge that this is a fair criticism.

I am not surprised with Republican Hannity losing so bad.

I will celebrate the day Hannity is kicked off the air.

After 12 years this vile team is broken up:

11-24-2008Hannity and Colmes split up

Fox News announced that after 12 years, Alan Colmes will be leaving the top-rated "Hannity & Colmes" at the end of the year.

Colmes will remain a Fox commentator, and continue hosting "The Alan Colmes Show" on Fox News Radio. Also, he's developing a weekend show.

So will it just be the "The Sean Hannity Show" (as on the radio) or take the name of the weekly Fox show, "Hannity's America?"

We?re very sorry to see Alan reach this decision but we understand his desire to seek other creative challenges in his career.

They should match him up with somebody on the Left who's just as obnoxious as he is.

Olbernann, Colmes, and dmcowen all on the same show? I'd watch that just to see dmcowen foam at the mouth in real life.
