Abit kv8max board with 3200+ 64 bit cpu.
fairly new seasonic PS 500 watt
lately when I boot up cold in the morning.
During post the digital readout will hang on C5.

According to the manual C5 represents: "Call chipset hook to copy bios back to E000 & F000 shadow Ram."

Since I haven't made any recent hardware or software changes , I suspect its an early sign of MB problems, as the board is 3 plus years old.
this is the only problem it manifests at this time.
Have tried a couple of hardware changes, tested ram cmos battery, temps are fine.
av is up to date.

open to ideas:) thx

i have the next to the latest bios.
last year I flashed to the latest and it screwed up my linux drives ability to boot so I flashed back to prior version.
the changes on the latest one were very minor anyway according to the description.....
might try it again just for fun though?

only happening on cold boots if I leave machine running it seems fine?

no reflashing didn't help either.
am getting one long beep now and its getting harder to get past it.
hanging on 04 now which there is no match for in the manual.
far as I can google one long seems to indicate keyboard,ps, or mb.have tried keyboard and at first that seemed to help, but then it returned, will try another ps and then I am out of ideas.

Since it only happens on cold boot, have you tried a different PSU? If you do not have a spare CPU, troubleshoot by reducing the starting load by disconnecting some drives first and peripherals and see if it makes a difference. If it makes a difference, it could be the PSU, if not it's the mobo capacitors failing.
