Hangs after install

Installed XP onto a 74GB raptor on a SATA1 connection--> ABIT IC7-MAX3. And using a 160GB SATA cuda on SATA2. After it finished it restarted to boot screen, showed the intel logo and after that screen went black and it just stayed there...why wont it load to desktop?

I assume the Intel logo is the boot screen from your mobo, try and see if you
can hit F8 and access safe mode to get into Windows, if you can XP may have
installed a bogus driver on it's own.

I hit f8 constantly at boot, nothing happens. Ive also installed the SATA drivers before XP installation i just cant get into desktop, same thing keeps happening it hangs after the installation is comple.

It worked when i installed XP on the barracuda without the Raptor installed, but when i add the raptor and try to install XP with the cuda as SATA2 the problem occurs.

What do i do?

First what mode are you in ie. auto, combined, enhanced? Second if this is nort a raid array why did you supply the raid drivers. Sata 1 & 2 are integrated into the south bridge and need no drivers unless you are setting up an array.

I didnt apply the drivers at first and it didnt work, so i thought i might aswell try the floppy.
Its on Auto. Ive tried SATA Only but this causes the WinXP cd not to be recognised when booting from CD rom there fore i cant proceed to XP Install.

Any ideas on what i should do?

The easiest way to get it working is to use the raptor only. Install XP. Switch to enhanced. add the second drive.

Argh...removed the cuda, set bios to enhanced, turned off sata raid rom, installed XP.
Same thing hangs on a black screen after reebot 🙁.

What now...

Im not using an LCD and ive just turned it off and on, and doesnt work still.......

Im starting to think either its a bios alteration that needs doing, or the hard drive needs to be RMA'd i doubt its the latter considering it installs XP but wont load to desktop? i dont know..

Edit: I tried to enter safe mode but it just hanged at a loading screen with white text.

It looks like your hard drive may be hosed. Make an xp boot disk to see. See here. But before you do I see you had it in enhanced mode with only one drive. Setup should be completed in auto . The switched to enhanced when the second drive is added. Also the next time you reboot make sure the raptor is listed first on the boot menu.

When i formatted i didnt use quick format. I did full.
Ill try what that site says tommorow, its basically using a 98 boot disk to format right?
