do you only get them if you get drunk enough to pass out? cause i get quite drunk, but not passed out, and am fine a while later.....

The strength of a hangover depends on more variables than 'amount of alcohol consumed'.

What you ate/drank before/during/after and the rate at which you metabolize the alcohol affect how bad your hangover is going to be.

I've been wrecked before and have no hangover while I've also been tipsy and feel miserable the next day.

Avoid anything with a lot of sugar and you're usually good to go. Quality makes a huge difference as well.
