Hanging out on weeknights, who does it?

Lately, I've been really busy with work. With an hour one way commute, and full day, and going to the gym afterwards, I have a couple hours before bed time, so I basically have no social life during the week.

Is this healthy? I guess my current friends don't seem to mind as they are busy too, but I figure this has to be a bad situation for meeting and getting to know new people, and likely particularly rough for dating (if I get around to that).

I have nothing to do but play WoW. Commuting 2 hours a day SUCKS. I have no idea how people spend even one year doing it, much less their entire lives.

Cry me a river, but that is nothing compared to my schedule.

I have had no social life, and added to that I have had 5-6 hours of sleep on good days just to fit in all the work and stuff I have to do. The fact that you can even go to the gym is good enough. I am getting so out of shape now, it is silly. It has become laborsome just to make 20 minutes for my close friends per week.

Working full-time and going to school is quite hectic, especially since I do IT stuff, since that means I sometimes have to do work over weekends and off hours. The only thing that seems to make things bearable is that I work for government (some of you know what this means). 😉 😛

I haven't gone out on weeknights since I was in college. Unless you count going to Target with my then-girlfriend-now-wife as going out. 😉

I do have nearly 25,000 posts on an Internet forum though, so... yeah.

Back before heading back to graduate school, I used to hang out with a friends in and around Atlanta at least a few nights a week (probably two or three on average). But since coming to Baton Rouge, it's been cut down substantially.

is that commute one way or round trip?
Even if its round trip, it still sucks, lol

I'm going to assume you never wanted to take an English class

You forgot the punctuation on the end of your sentence. Maybe you two should setup something?

Between my job and the duties I have to various other organizations, I'm usually unavailable to friends IRL throughout the work-week. They've figured out that they usually need to put something on my schedule (well in advance) if I'm supposed to be there, unless it's on the weekend (and even then, sometimes).

I left it out on purpose, AT is informal, sarcasm detector borked? 😉

Edit: nevermind, never was funny in the first place, maybe I could blame it on having a long day?

I commute one hour each way and work at least ten hour days. I get home at around 9pm on average, later if I go to the gym. I never hang out on weeknights unless there are coworkers visiting from another office. You're right, it doesn't make for meeting new people.

I usually try to hang out with friends 2 nights a week. Usually go out to eat or hit a neighborhood bar one night, then just hang out with the guys and watch UFC or something.

Im always trying to hang out with people on weeknights. I usually end up just staying home bored out of my mind trying to find something to do, everyone else is always tired or buisy with work.

On the occasional Thursday, I'll hang out. For some reason, the bars and clubs have their special nights (College night, ladies night, etc.) on Thursdays

I used to, back in Michigan.

I'd like to go out at least once or twice during the week, plus weekends, but never get to. The only people I really know / hang out with here in Long Island are coworkers, and they are all in relationships and don't go out ever. Even on weekends. 🙁 So, either I go out by myself (LAME) or sit around at home.

I know what you mean... my daily commute is usually 2 hours as well (1 hour there, 1 hour back). Wake up at 6, out the door by 7, get home at 6 if lucky... maybe a couple hours of WoW, then dinner or gym... then I maybe iron my clothes for the next day, and go to bed 🙁

Last week I emptied the trash can in my room on Wednesday, and just got around to putting a new trash bag in today.

Great. That's why we haven't hung out in forever! You need to 'pencil me in'! 😉
