Ok, i saw the other thread on the dude's comp freezing during games, but able to recover. I am running

win2k
epox 8kha+
Athlon XP1900+
SB Live
netgear NIC card
ATi Radeon 8500

i can leave my comp on all nite and it will be working fine in the morning, try to play a game however, and its a crapshoot...sometimes it will run fine for an hour, sometimes two or three, sometimes 10 minutes. The game will freeze, sound will keep going, maybe 10 seconds later, the num lock and caps lock light wont function anymore, and thats it, can't recover, no 3 finger salute can help it, no choice but to turn the damn thing off, however, when i goto turn it back on, it wont post.arggg...i've tried swapping the sound card around, to no avail, now when people say the 5th slot, is that the 5th slot from the agp? or the other way around? i've got the latest 4in1s, the latest radeon drivers, updated my bios, disabled shadowing. please help!

I use PCI slot 2 for my Audigy in my Epox 8KHA+ ( counting from AGP slot),have you gone into the BIOS and disabled all video shadowing, disable system bios cacheable, disable onboard sound, disable midi and game port address.
You could try running in AGP 2x as well.

what is CPU temp during gaming?

Yeh, i disabled the video shadowing, system bios cacheable...and im running the agp 2x

i haven't tried disableing the onboard sounds, or the midi and game part address...those two have to be done in windows rite? or in bios? my sblive was originally in the 2nd slot from the agp, its now in the 3rd or fourth, i forget. any clues on why it wont posT?

its running around 56 load...when playing the game...the motherboard heat alert thingamabob went off once while playing so i shut it down...

It`s done in BIOS,as for your temp it`s possible it could be a heat problem,I would double check the heatsink is seated right even think of changing the heatsink to better model, game lockups etc could be heat related.

Is it posting at all now? Try clearing the CMOS but I would check that heatsink/ fan first(seated right etc)
