I just got my new build as follows -

Core i3 540 3.06 ghz
Asus P7P55D-E LX
Corsair XMS3-1600mhz (2 x 2GB) 4GB
Corsair CX 430w
No Graphics Card only integrated graphics
WD 1TB 7200RPM
Windows 7 64bit

The performance of system is very good but it hangs....
it loads and starts windows but after some time it hangs, no matter what you do it can hang any time. first I thougt it is windows problem so tried installing clean windows but problem is still there, then I tried installing win XP 32bit but still same problem.

I scaned memory with memtest, it passed 3 passes without any errors.

I dont know what to do now??? Please help...

1. Do not use generic drivers for any of your hardware. Download it from the hardware manufacturer web page.

2. Set your memory settings to AUTO

3. Check your hard drive for errors or even do a low level format to it.

4. Use a good anti virus program

5. Some poorly written software can cause your system to hang. Install apps one by one. Make a restore points between installs. As soon as you notice a problem recover to earlier point. Do trial and error testing. You should find your problem eventually

Heat can make it "hang".
A bad HD can lock everything up.
A bad PS can cause instability.
A bad MB can also cause instability.

Heat can make it turn off not hang. Every time a component overheats, the system turns off. (Yes i have tried this with CPU, NB, SB and VGA. Tested on partially defective components just for the heck of it. Removed heatsinks or covered them with foam :) )

I've seen heat lock up PCs.

Indeed, overheating can cause many issues.

OP, start by running Memtest 86+ for 24 hours @ stock settings. After that, run Hard disk diags from Western Digital.
