Handspring Visor USB Cradle + Linux

I've got a Visor Deluxe and USB Cradle and I'm trying to sync with my GNOME-pilot (using latest kernel, USB, USB->Serial Converter, and Visor support built in).

Has anyone been successful in getting a Visor synced via USB? What else am I leaving out?
