Hands on w/ Rage (id's new shooter)

I realize it's been in the works for a long time, but *yawn* yet another post-apocalypse game.

Hm, interesting, I didn't realized that id was purchased by another company last year, ZeniMax Media. They also own Bethesda.. developers of Fallout 3.

I was really not excited about this after seeing the promos last year. But after seeing the demo at E3 it has catapulted to the top of my can't wait list.

Another $50 tech demo from Id?

why the hate? Yes, D3 underwhelmed but from what I've seen here I'm impressed. It also "appears" to be more openworlded ala Borderlands, which I'd welcome, but that may be misleading.

Either way, this is the first game since Crysis (2 years ago!) to impress me with the visuals and animation, and thats on a friggen x360.

Those guys doing the interview are painfully obnoxious, but the game looks good. I am just hoping on the MP side they pull out something as good as RTCW or ET.

Nope..demo is free [suppose to be available sometime next year]
Game with editor will be...probably $59.99...maybe 2012 when it's finally released?

The demo was actually pretty impressive... Sure..it's another post apocalyptic game - but that's what id software has always released - games about mayhem and destruction in a world gone bad..and mad. 🙂

Wow, if that is on the Xbox 360 I can't wait to see what it looks like on a PC. This is actually one of the few games I am looking forward to in the next few years.

So in other words it's a $60 tech demo this time.

Looks interesting: I'm not excited about it as much as those guys raving like idiots on that clip, but interested nevertheless.

The FPS parts are reminding me strongly of Quake 4. That's strange since Q4 was supposedly developed by a different studio than Id wasn't it? Still, the character animations and the general pace of the action is similar.

Editor means loads of user made content, might be worth $50 if the mods are good. Checkout The Elder Scrolls series and especially Neverwinter Nights to see what games that ship with editors can do.

It looks good, but is it really that much better looking than other games already out there?

Plus, I find it hard to believe that no asset was reused and that their artists were encouraged to uniquely build every object in the world.

It certainly looks good, and fun. Lately with Bulletstorm and now Rage I wonder how many other Borderlands-inspired games we'll see out there, which wouldn't be bad I guess, I liked and still do appreciate Borderlands (I just think that its multi-player mode is basically crap unless you have good friends to play with, similarly to Left 4 Dead), it seems more grittier and serious than Borderlands though, and less frantic than Bulletstorm, kind of a middle ground between them. Well, time will tell, I never actually disliked any id Software games to date at least from the ones I have played, they're always decent at worst so I might just blindly buy it and then live with the consequences, good or bad, they got me interested, and I'm pretty easy on games with that theme (post-apocalyptic stuff, in major part thanks to Fallout 2 back in the days).

For being on a 360 it looks bad ass man, that's gonna be nice looking on pc for sure. I love fo3 so I'm sure I'd like this game...
