I would, screw them. Once they're out in their wheelchairs, they're as mobile as I am.

One guy at work almost ran me over at like 15mph one day (in his wheelchair) when he was in a rush, no joke. He used to take almost ten minutes to go accross the main room at work just to take up time so he didn't have to take calls. That was the only time I saw him go fast, he obviously hides it.

Our society promotes being handicapped. What ever happened to natural selection?

I would never park in a handicapped parking spot. I think it's rude, because you never know when someone is going to really need that spot. Not every handicapped person is in a wheelchair btw. My father is handicapped and he walks using a cane.

I wouldn't take the last spot. I actually used to park in them with my dad's handicapped tag that he gave to me so I wouldn't have to pay the anal-raping prices for parking stickers at my school (that also look ugly on my nice car). I only parked because they get wide enough spots to where no one will bang in your doors. Both of the cars in my house are very nicely taken care of and we don't want that crap.

Now I park as far out as possible because I want the exersize.

No..

I don't even always take the closest spot -- it's not going to kill me to walk..and sometimes it's actually faster than waiting for someone to pull out. :p

Seconded.

What ever happened to being sensitive towards people with disablities, jackass? By your standards, I should have been left for the wolves because I have a hearing problem.

I've only done it at places like a gas-station where all the other spots are taken and I'm just running in to get a drink or something. In large parking lots I usually park pretty far away from the building on purpose.

I definitely don't think our society "promotes" being handicapped. Granted, we want to give them every opportunity to do the things normal people can do... is there anything wrong with that? No, do we sometimes take it too far? Yes.

All that being said... I have a huge problem with people who "have asthma" and get a handicapped sticker. I knew a girl who did this and I never ever saw her have an asthma attack ever... that stuff is annoying.

If you're strong enough to overcome the adversities, that's great! That's what natural selection is all about!

no.

it doesn't hurt any able-bodied person to park a distance away & walk.

What ever happened to natural selection?
how does society improve by removing compassion?

While at wal-mart a few weeks ago some young kid in a beater rice wannabe parked in a handicap place. No sticker no nothing. I was with my father-in-law who can't walk that far and uses the electric chairs they have. Well this kid took one of the few spots. None of the others were open.

So i called the police. I figured they would take about 20+ minutes to get there and he would be long gone by that time.

Nope. There just happened to be a officer in wal mart (they have a small office in the front but never in it) and he walked out and gave the guy a ticket. :)

But i agree with the fact it is to easy to get a handicap sticker. I have seen fat people with them. hell they should be forced to park in the very back. maybe then they will lose some of that fat.

but we don't live in an environment where we let natural selection run its course. are you saying we should all go back to hunting for our own food? should we let anyone who gets sick just die because in nature they would have died anyway?

I wounld, so long as there we no other spaces. If there were other spaces I'd take them, to avoid getting my car keyed, and to get some tiny modicum of excersize.

My dad has a handicapped tag. When I drive his car, I could easily part in a handicapped spot and "get away with it". However, I never do since they are there for a reason. Some people really need them and I will not deny them that.

My Dad has water on his lungs and has trouble doing any physical activity whatsoever.

In the wild but in a civilized society the strong take care of the weak though in your case I think they should make you the exception.
