so i'm looking to buy a new handheld, much like a palm.

Any suggestions? i'm looking to spend about $200, i'm quite flexible. What have u guys used, what do you reccommend?

i don't know whether i want to stick with the traditional palm V/ VII etc...

i hear there's some new model out with a color display?

What do you guys have to say?

check out cnet.com handhelds page.

they have loads of info. Personally, I am content with my palm vx. But nowadays, there are so many clones, that I wouldn't even know where to start.

good luck

From everything I have seen the Visor's have the coolest options available. Too bad the PalmOS sucks so bad. I would dump the $200 into an older CE device or save up a little more for an iPaq or something similiar.

For two hundred you won't be able to come close to the multimedia offered on highend Pocket PCs, so don't even try, cuz you'll end up with something slow, bulky, with like sixteen dim colors if any, and cumbersome.

I would go for a Palm Vx or a variant of it. It's sleek, small, and excellent at what you need it for - an organizer. No killer sound, color, multimedia, MP3 playback, or voice recording, but if you need those things, a 500$ IPAQ is what you need. Visor's only advantage is the Springboard expansion, but I don't really buy into it. Unless you know of a module you really must have BEFORE you buy, ie a GPS, there's no reason to opt for it.

The Clie's nice; I don't know too much about it so do some research on it I guess. I think Compgeeks is still selling that IBM workpad (Vx clone) for cheap...

That's totally true...but if you're gonna go that buckwild, why not just spend the extra money to get a laptop? You never know when you're gonna need the extra space 😉

i say check out the hot deals forum and look into getting either the m105 or the vx. You'll need the 8MB of memory trust me.

I say stay with the PALM OS, as it is easily the most popular os out there, which makes it incredibly easy to get programs and such.

the palms are great as you can connect to the internet with them using a cell phone.
