How so?

Text

Honestly, Glock has done tests like this for decades and proven their worth. I doubt you could go wrong with either one.

To be fair this test is by a third party, and is much more insane than most of the Glock ones I have seen...

That being said, I never said the Glock was a bad choice, it is about the grip girth and grip angle, and how it feels when you shoot it that matters.... and the subtle look between the two (mostly on the slide)

They will both probably handle any type of normal or even extreme wear and tear any of us will put them through.

Another favorite. 😀

A colt.
Yuck.

Yeah, the Series 80 Mark IV was never very highly regarded. Still, I only paid $399 for it new. This one has Trijicon night sights (which probably need to be replaced now), King's beavertail grip safety, King's trigger job and a King's recoil spring and guide rod. It also had the ramp polished for better reliability. It really is an excellent gun now...I have a soft spot for it.

Check out King's Gun Works in Glendale, CA. They did all the work on this gun.

Take a look at the FN FNP handguns. The FNP45 has to be one of the best guns I have ever shot.

BTW-If you're going to buy handguns, get a decent holster for it. Even if you don't carry it regularly, it is a good idea for those times when you do carry it...luck favors the prepared. I personally like Galco and DeSantis leather holsters, Bianchi makes some good ones too. I have a nice inside the pants leather Bianchi holster for my Colt Officer's Model, good retention, complete trigger coverage and it wears well...not that I've worn it much in CA of course; mostly when I go out to the desert with friends.

Leather is the best. It wears well, retains its shape, is easy on the finish of most firearms, and it looks good.

Cool, copied and pasted this into a txt file so I can look it up when the time comes.

Can you buy a decent handgun for $200?

I think I paid about $250 for my Beretta Tomcat. It is tiny and easy to conceal but .32 ACP is really a marginal round for self defense. I find it difficult to shoot well though and rarely does it see much use. Recoil is surprising...probably because it is so small and light. It would make an acceptable backup gun and despite its shortcomings it is still better than nothing.

For $200 I'd look for a used Smith & Wesson or Taurus revolver in .38 or .357 Magnum. Good luck finding one right now though. Guns are in demand it seems since Obama got elected. Democratic Presidents are good at driving up the demand for firearms it seems.

I own and currently carry a Springfield Armory Mil-Spec 1911, and I just recently bought an XD45.

I'll be replacing the 1911 with the XD as my carry weapon after I test it for reliability with my carry ammo.

I'm also a fan of the FNP 45.

The Springfield Armory handguns (1911s and XDs) feel good in your hand, the Glocks not so much.

I own a G17, its a good reliable gun, just doesnt feel as nice as my 1911 or my XD.
